How long a William Hill withdrawal takes depends on the method. For a Visa card on Visa Direct, William Hill's help centre says checks "normally" take a couple of hours and the money usually reaches your bank within four hours. Other debit cards take 1 to 3 working days in most cases, PayPal, Skrill and Neteller one working day, and a bank transfer 3 to 5 working days. Your money goes back first to the method with the highest net deposit. Since 30 June 2020, customers in Great Britain and Northern Ireland can't cancel a withdrawal once it's requested.0302040105
We read William Hill's help-centre articles on withdrawals, payment methods and verification, and its terms for UK, Jersey and Gibraltar customers (version 2026/1.4, dated 30 September 2026), on 19 October 2026. These are the operator's own statements, not tested payouts: BullsRank hasn't measured how long William Hill takes to pay. The payment-methods table we read applies to every customer except those registered in the Republic of Ireland, who have a separate page. Our William Hill profile holds the licence record; the rest of our guides cover withdrawals at other operators.01020304050607080910
How long does a William Hill withdrawal take?
For Visa Direct, the help centre gives the time in hours: "It normally takes a couple of hours to check and approve withdrawals before we process them." Once the request is made, "it'll usually take up to four (4) hours to reach your bank account", weekends and public holidays included. Visa Direct is used only for compatible Visa debit or credit cards at banks that support it, and only for withdrawals of £10,000 or less. Anything over £10,000 goes "through the old route", which takes "up to three (3) days". If you want to, the help centre says, you can split a larger withdrawal: £10,000 by Visa Direct, the rest by the old route.03
For other cards the table says "in most cases 1 to 3 working days, depending on your bank". PayPal, Skrill and Neteller each show one working day, Pay By Bank "Immediate to 1 working day" and Apple Pay "Immediate". A standard bank transfer takes 3 to 5 working days, and the bank-transfer article tells you to allow up to 10 working days before contacting customer service.0204
Method | Withdrawal minimum | Withdrawal maximum | Time William Hill states |
|---|---|---|---|
Visa Debit card (Visa Direct) | £5 | £33,000; over £10,000 goes by the old route | Up to 4 hours; up to 3 days over £10,000 |
Other debit cards | £5 | £33,000 Mastercard and Visa Debit; £40,000 Maestro; £35,000 Visa Electron | In most cases 1 to 3 working days |
Pay By Bank (UK) | £5 | £33,000 | Immediate to 1 working day |
Apple Pay (UK and Austria) | £5 | £33,000 | Immediate |
PayPal (UK and Gibraltar) | £10 | £5,500 | 1 working day |
Skrill | £5 | £80,000 | 1 working day |
Neteller | £5 | £30,000 | 1 working day |
Bank transfer | £25 | £100,000 | 3 to 5 working days; CHAPS (UK only) 1 working day |
PLUS card, cash in a William Hill shop (only if the account is funded by up to two debit cards or cash) | £5 | £750 a day, £2,500 a week | Immediate, in the shop |
These are the help centre's figures, read on 19 October 2026. The withdrawal itself can still take longer: the Visa Direct article says some withdrawals "may require further internal checks to be carried out, which could extend the processing time past the four (4) hours", and William Hill may email you for ID before it pays.03
Where your money goes: the net-deposit rule
You don't always choose the withdrawal method. If you have one payment method, the money goes back to it. If that method can't receive withdrawals, PaySafeCard for example, William Hill pays by bank transfer instead. With several methods, the system sends money first to "the payment method with the highest 'net deposit'", meaning the one where deposits minus withdrawals is largest.0102
The help centre's own example: you deposit £100 by Visa Debit and £50 by Skrill, and your balance grows to £500. Before you can send more than £50 back to Skrill, you have to withdraw £100 to the Visa card. If you have no payment method on the account, or yours has expired, you have to register one and deposit with it before you can withdraw to it. William Hill recommends removing inactive methods and keeping "three or less" on the account.01
You can't cancel a withdrawal in Britain
"Reverse withdrawals are no longer allowed for customers in England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland since 30th June 2020." Once you've requested a withdrawal, you can't move the money back into your balance. International customers can still reverse a withdrawal while it shows as "pending", and the help centre says that window is now shorter for all card withdrawals because of the Visa Direct processing times. A customer who wants to give up that option can ask customer service to turn reversals off.0503
Minimums, maximums and fees
The minimum for most methods is £5, PayPal £10 and a standard bank transfer £25. A balance below the minimum isn't stuck: under clause 9.2 of the terms William Hill "will process a withdrawal for the full available balance in your Account in any event (i.e. even if less than the minimum withdrawal threshold)", though you may need to contact customer service to do it.02040809
The help centre isn't consistent on bank-transfer limits. The bank-transfer article, last edited on 2 September 2025, gives a £25 minimum and a £100,000 maximum. The payment-methods table, last edited on 30 September 2026, gives £25 and £99,000 by bank transfer for PaySafeCard customers, and £5 and £10,000 by bank transfer for EPS (Austria) and Trustly (Finland). We've put £100,000 in the table above because that's the article about bank transfers; if you plan to move a large amount this way, ask customer service which limit applies to your account.0402
William Hill doesn't charge for card, PayPal, Skrill, Neteller or bank-transfer withdrawals, according to the help centre, though your bank or e-wallet may. The one fee William Hill does charge is for inactivity. An account unused for 13 consecutive months with money in it pays £3 a month in sterling, taken on the 28th of each month while the account stays inactive, until the balance reaches zero. William Hill says it first tries to repay the balance to your most recent payment method and starts the fee at least 30 days after trying to contact you. Our guide to casino inactivity fees compares this with other operators' terms.020409
When William Hill asks for documents
Customers in the UK, Jersey and Gibraltar are verified before their first deposit and bet. That isn't the last check. Under clause 9.1 of the terms you can withdraw "at any time (subject to the applicable banking clearance period)", provided your deposits have cleared, any verification checks are complete, and no investigation into an error or a suspected prohibited practice is open or has ended against you. Clause 5.4 lets William Hill stop withdrawals until its checks are done.0608
The help centre names three common reasons for a document request at withdrawal: you're withdrawing to a different method from the one you deposited with, you've used a bank card that isn't yours, or the account has been inactive for a while. It then asks for:06
The card or e-wallet: front and back of the card, with the first six and last four digits visible, the middle six covered and the CVV covered; or proof of the e-wallet.
Photo ID: front and back, for example a passport, driving licence or national ID card.
A statement or proof of address: showing your full name, address and the issuer's name or logo, issued in the last three months if you live in the UK. Birth certificates, pay slips and phone bills aren't accepted.
Documents go to documents@willhill.com, or through live chat. Every bank-transfer withdrawal also needs a bank statement matching your bank details and a valid ID, as part of what the help centre calls "the Anti-Money Laundering (AML) requirement".0604
Source of funds is a separate request. The help centre asks for documents such as your latest P60, a wage slip from the last three months or your latest tax return, or a link through BetBudget's open-banking service. In its FAQ on why it requests documents, it says that over the last year this has "only been around 2% of William Hill customers", and that certified copies were needed for fewer than 10 people a year. Miss the deadline and "a temporary suspension will be applied to your account", with restricted access that includes withdrawing your funds. Our guide to a source-of-funds check covers what to send and what to redact.07
If a withdrawal is pending, missing or held
Card withdrawal marked "Approved" but not in your bank: for Visa Direct, ask your bank first; if it can't find the payment, contact William Hill after one full day for the ARN (Acquirer's Reference Number), the code your bank uses to trace a card payment. For other cards, wait at least five working days before asking. William Hill emails the ARN within 1 to 2 working days of the request.
Withdrawal still "Pending" past four hours on Visa Direct: the help centre says it may be held for internal checks; watch your email for an ID request.
Bank transfer not received: allow up to 10 working days before contacting customer service.
Account suspended: clause 11.1 covers suspension while William Hill investigates a suspected prohibited practice: "Your funds cannot be accessed or withdrawn during periods of suspension."
Account closed by William Hill: clause 11.8 says the balance will be paid back, except where illegal activity, a prohibited practice or a regulatory requirement applies. Clause 11.3 lets William Hill restrict, suspend or close an account at any time on at least 14 days' written notice.
Complaints start with customer service through live chat, which the help centre says is open 24/7. If you're still unhappy, clause 14.3 sends you to the Second Opinion team at second_opinion@willhill.com. Clause 14.4 lets you refer the complaint to IBAS, the Independent Betting Adjudication Service, if the Second Opinion team hasn't given a final response within eight weeks or you disagree with it. Our guide to IBAS and UK gambling disputes covers the deadlines and what IBAS can decide. If the operator still won't pay, see what to do when a casino is refusing to pay.1008
Who you're dealing with
The terms name WHG (International) Limited, a Gibraltar company (number 99191) that is part of Evoke plc, as the operator. The Gambling Commission's register, downloaded on 19 October 2026 at 09:54 UTC, lists account 39225 under WHG (International) Limited with licence 039225-R-319373-015, active, covering remote betting, casino, bingo, pool betting and gambling software, and one domain, www.williamhill.com. For customers in Great Britain, clause 5.10 of the terms says customer money is held on trust in a separate account, an arrangement the terms say meets the Gambling Commission's requirements at the level "medium protection" in case of insolvency. Our guide to what the UK Gambling Commission does for players explains what the regulator can and can't do about a single withdrawal.0811
What to ask William Hill before a large withdrawal
Please confirm, for my withdrawal of [amount] to [method]: which payment method it will be sent to under the net-deposit rule, whether any documents are needed before it is processed, and the maximum that applies to this method on my account. My account username is [username].
Keep the reply in the same live-chat or email thread.
What we couldn't check
Actual payout times. We didn't make a withdrawal. The times above are what William Hill's help centre says, not what we measured.
The cashier. We didn't log in, so we haven't seen the limits the withdrawal screen shows for a real account.
The help pages as a browser shows them. The help centre's web pages put a Cloudflare check in front of our requests, so we read the same articles through the help centre's public data feed, with each article's last-edited date.
Maximum winnings. Clause 9.3 caps what you can win regardless of stake; the sportsbook limits sit on a separate page we didn't read for this guide.
